AMK Air Suspension Compressor Upgrade Information
Range Rover Sport L320 & Discovery 3 / 4 (L319)
Land Rover gradually changed the air suspension compressor supplier from Hitachi to AMK during production. The AMK-type compressor is fully compatible with earlier models, but installation requirements depend on vehicle year and existing setup.
Vehicle Compatibility and Changeover
Range Rover Sport L320
From 2010 production onwards (VIN starting from 9A215622), Range Rover Sport models were factory-equipped with an AMK air suspension compressor instead of the earlier Hitachi unit.
Earlier vehicles before 2010 can also use an AMK compressor, but additional components and a software update may be required depending on the configuration.
Discovery 3 & Discovery 4 (L319)
From 2012 production onwards (VIN starting from CA638965), Discovery models were factory-equipped with an AMK-type compressor.
Earlier Discovery 3 / 4 vehicles can also be converted to AMK, subject to the same requirements outlined below.
Important: Choose the Correct Version
We offer two different versions of the AMK-type compressor depending on your needs:
🔹 L&M Part.no. SKU LMR31 – AMK Compressor (Naked Unit Only)
This version includes only the compressor itself.
Does NOT include:
• Housing
• Intake / discharge kit
• Mounting bracket
Recommended for:
• Vehicles already equipped with an AMK compressor
• Replacing an existing AMK unit only
• Customers reusing their original AMK housing and fittings
⚠️ Not suitable for direct replacement of a Hitachi compressor without additional parts.
🔹L&M Part.no. SKU LMR32 – AMK Compressor Complete Kit
This version includes:
• AMK compressor
• Complete housing
• Intake & discharge kit
• AMK-type mounting bracket
Required when:
• Converting from a Hitachi compressor to AMK
• Original Hitachi housing does not fit the AMK compressor
This is the correct option for first-time AMK upgrades.
Software Update Requirement
• Vehicles manufactured before the AMK changeover
A software update is required after installing an AMK compressor.
• Vehicles manufactured after the changeover VIN
No software update is required.
Installation Notes
• The compressor relay must be replaced during installation
• Failure to replace the relay may void warranty
• Professional installation and diagnostic tools are strongly recommended
